ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is in half-moon bay with more on the warnings at bay area beaches this weekend. tara. >> reporter: yeah we're here at other january know hotel in half-moon bay. preparations are getting under way for mavericks and the festival starting this morning. we do want to mention there will be no beach or bluff access come sunday which is when the competition kicks off. authorities are closing all roads to pillar point and the national weather service has issued a dangerous wave warning which will go into effect this afternoon and last until late tomorrow morning. now if you remember three years ago at mavericks there were unexpected waves that broke on shore sweeping dozens of spectators from the manmade jetty at the southern tip of mavericks beach. within the past month waves have killed three people in the bay area including a man and his nine-year-old son that were swept off the rocks while fishing in marin head winds. waves can strike with enough force to knock beach twoers un- - beach goers unconscious. so again sneaker wave warning along the coastline

ktvu tara moriarty is at the scene of police activity. it's happening in oakland. what is going on out there? >> reporter: we're not going to say exactly where we are. this operation is still under way. oakland police are doing a raid on this block you see behind me. there are emergency personnel out here. this is one of many raids going on this morning. we are told this operation one of the riskiest. these are alleged gang members and that weapons, drugs that sort of thing is being confiscated right now. the helicopter has been above us since before 5:00 this morning. that is when swat teams moved in and told the people inside of this home to get out. neighbors did report hearing a loud boom. we are not sure if that is a door being kicked in or flash grenades were being used. there is a tactical unit at the top of the street along with an ambulance. oakland police remaining tight lipped who these people are. once the raid is over and the evidence has been seized we'll be learning more about this operation. this is one of the biggest raids happening in the city of

tara moriarty is here now just got some new information about those victims. tara. >> reporter: we just got off the phone with the chp we have learned two of the three people that died were actually brothers and they were only 12 and 16 years old. the driver was 21. he also died. two others survived. both 18 years old. one walked away with minor injuries. the other is at stanford medical center right now with major injuries fighting for his life. he is also a brother of the two brothers who died. a very tragic situation. right now the chp doesn't know what caused the crash. it happened here near the foster city boulevard exit. they had to shut down two lanes of eastbound 92 for three hours after the driver of what looks like a silver honda accord slammed into a guardrail. it happened just before 10:00 last night. the car knocked over a utility pole. and the vehicle was unrecognizable after the crash. five people inside, two pronounced dead on the scene. another died on the way to the hospital. >> i don't know how many witnesses have called in. we do urge the p
